The sun shone as most of the town turned out to mark Remembrance Day. There was a short commemoration by the War Memorial and then many of our uniformed organisations paraded from the War Memorial to St Mary’s Church where we had our Remembrance Day service. As part of the service we used poppies, thinking about the Blood Swept Lands and Sea of Red installation at the Tower of London. We then created our own field of poppies as part of our prayers.
In our November Allsorts family service, we took the opportunity to wish a very happy birthday to Bert Young, our eldest member of the congregation as he turns 100 this month!
On Friday 31st October, we took over Breamore School hall for a celebration of light in the darkness. Children of many ages enjoyed a fun mix of craft and games, as well as a time to light a candle and share in prayer for the world.
On Thursday 23rd October, Breamore School met in St Mary’s Church Breamore, to celebrate their harvest service. The children shared a great selection of songs and readings, and then food was gathered to give to the Trussell Trust.
Fun was had by all as we gathered to enjoy a harvest lunch in St Mary’s Church Hall. The handbell ringers provided the entertainment. After their performance, they invited us to have a go too!
