Licensed Lay Minister
Mark was licensed as a lay minister in 2005 and takes 2 or 3 services a month across the team. In 2011 he became Lay Chair of Christchurch Deanery and shares some responsibilities for the Deanery with our Priest-In-Charge, Gary who is Area Dean. Mark is a member of Winchester Diocesan Synod.
Mark works full time as Head of Fundraising for The Trussell Trust, a Christian charity based in Salisbury which supports foodbanks around the U.K., He has worked for The Trussell Trust since 2008 and previously worked in the banking sector regulating financial services activities.
He has lived in Sandleheath since 1995 with Margaret his wife who works in the refectory at Salisbury Cathedral and who sings with St Mary’s Singers, one of our two choirs. They have a cat called Poppy who loves biting visitors ankles!
His interests are, his 3 married children, grandchildren, his allotment, walking and reading novels. He is also a trustee of Sandleheath Village Hall.
Mark is involved with “Winchester Social Enterprise” a diocesan initiative to provide services to the community.
