Nicky has lived in the New Forest for nearly 30 years. She moved there from Overton, nr Basingstoke, where she became a Christian through the love and witness of local churchgoers. After marrying Matt they moved to Hythe as Matt works for The Forestry Commission.
When a tied house became available they moved to Woodgreen and have been happily settled there for 25 years, raising their two daughters Bethan and Katy.
Nicky has worked as a journalist all her career and loves interviewing people and writing their interesting and inspiring stories. This is a mixture of employed and self-employed work and she loves the variety!
Nicky has felt hugely supported and encouraged by colleagues and friends in the Avon Valley Partnership Team and after a period of discernment and being recommended for training, she followed God’s calling to the ordained ministry. She began studying on the STETS course at Sarum College in Salisbury in 2011 and was ordained Deacon in Winchester Cathedral on June 29th 2014.
Nicky’s ministry is balanced alongside her family and work commitments – making for a busy but very fulfilling life!
Nicky loves the rural life, keeping chickens and sheep, growing their own fruit and vegetables, making jam and baking! In fact the family like trying to live as sustainably as possible and believe it’s vital that everyone takes this seriously for the future of God’s world. Rant over…
Nicky also loves going to the cinema and ‘wild’ swimming wherever possible (ask her about it?!)
