Late last year the four Parochial Church Councils (PCCs) of the Avon Valley Churches began having conversations about the legal and missional organisation of our seven Churches and their communities. These papers have been produced to outline why the proposal has come about and how it can be moved forward.

AVC Simplification Booklet – Draft for PCCs and Congregations

We would like to have responses and questions and ideas about these papers, ready for an OPEN MEETING of the Four PCCs, to which anyone is welcome, on Thursday, June 11th, at 7.00p.m. (The Meeting will be on Zoom, by internet or phone, and also live on Facebook – details to follow nearer the time). The aim of the Meeting is to hear what people think is good in the Papers, what is missing, and what needs changing. Please consider them prayerfully, carefully and openly.

Any responses, thoughts and questions you have before June 11th can be e-mailed to the Church Office –

Sew Friendly group in Hyde make NHS gowns and raise money for Salisbury Hospice

Members of the Sew Friendly sewing group in Hyde, have kept busy during lockdown by making face masks and have now been commissioned to make gowns for NHS staff. They will receive a small payment for each gown made.

So far over 40 have been made and they are working on another 80.

Member of the group and former NHS worker Gaynor Hammond said: ” We all just wanted to do our bit to help and we have a skill we can use to make a difference.

“We have all elected to donate the money to Salisbury Hospice. As a volunteer at the hospice, I know they will be struggling for funding this year.”

Do you need Prayer for something in particular?

If so, phone the Prayer Line, organised by the Churches in Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole.

They’d love to hear from you.

‘Thy Kingdom Come’ is a global time of prayer, between Ascension Day (May 21st and Pentecost (May 31st).

People are urged to pray however they wish, and to experiment with different types of prayer, or using different resources, or doing it in different ways.

We’ll be using some of the materials in our Srvices and Thoughts for the Day.

One way of praying is to think of 5 friends, and to pray for them, especially during these 10 days.

There are ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ Resources you might like to use – either on-line, or by printing them off.

You can find these in the News Section, under Partners, or by clicking here, and scrolling down to ‘Thy Kingdom Come’:

Something to look forward to!

We will be starting a new playgroup at St Mary’s Church Hall in Fordingbridge as soon as we get the COVID19 all clear. We hope this will be some time in the Autumn Term.

This will be a fully accessible and inclusive playgroup for parents, carers and children 0-5 years, taking place on Friday mornings.

We look forward to this exciting new venture!
